Culinary Training

The key program Farrand Farm will focus on in our first year is culinary training through five week internships for individuals at various levels. During this five week period interns will learn a variety of critical skills related to farm to fork cooking. Including hands-on work on an organic farm, kitchen skills, understanding ingredients and sustainable cooking models and what it’s like to work with award winning chefs in a higher end environment.

Local Food Systems

Great chefs understand the intricacies of food production and its movement from farm to plate. It’s critical to understand local and global food systems in an effort to challenge and change our mentality around where our food comes from and how we eat.

Our farm partner Butternut Sustainable Farm will assist in providing educational opportunities at various levels through hands-on work and learning.

Our Vision

The vision for Farrand Farm is to create aworld class culinary training facility in St. Joe county. Over the next 5 years we will expand our ability to train more students and provide more programs to the public surrounding food security, healthy eating, sustainable farming, and modern cooking techniques. We believe we can be a major economic driver in the region through training a new generation of chefs, some of whom will remain in the community to build their own restaurants. Additionally, we believe a facility that provides the public with access to programs focused on food, agriculture, gardening, horticulture and more will be a major source of activity and excitement drawing folks from all over to visit Colon.
